Hajj packages – best deals to fly to Mecca for Hajj or Umrah pilgrimages. The Hajj is coming and it’s an important part of life for Muslims across the world.

The five-day pilgrimage to Mecca – and nearby holy sites – in Saudi Arabia – is one of the Five Pillars of Islam. All Muslims must undertake the Hajj at least once.

The other pillars are: Shahada (faith), Salah (prayer), Zakat (charity) and Sawm (fasting).

As well as the Hajj – compulsory and undertaken on specific dates according to the lunar calendar – there is Umrah, a pilgrimage that can be carried out at any time of year.

When is the Hajj 2018?

The Hajj takes place from the 8th to 12th day of Dhul Hijjah, the 12th and final month in the Islamic calendar.

Hajj 2018 is expected to begin on Sunday, August 19, 2018 and continue till Friday, August 24, 2018.

We are now in ‘Hajj season’ and the first pilgrims have started arriving in Saudi Arabia for hajj on flights from India, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Afghanistan and Malaysia.

These first flights landed at Jeddah and also at Medina (also written as Madinah). Haj and Umrah Pilgrims were offered prayer mats and some dates to eat by the Saudi authorities as they arrived.

As many as three million Muslims in total will take part in the Hajj, the largest single gathering of people in the world.
